Press Release: Park Fields in Parkgate, Neston has been recognised as one of the UK’s very best green spaces
Today, a record number of parks and green spaces collect a Green Flag Award. Park Fields in Parkgate Neston has been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as one of the very best in the world.
The Park Fields site is amongst a record-breaking 1,970 UK parks and green spaces and 131 in thirteen other countries around the world, that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Community Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Colin Nicol Chairman of the Friends of Park Fields said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the 9th year running. Park Fields is a beautiful location and receives over 25,000 visits a year by members of the local and wider community’’.
“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining the Fields to such a high standard.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our hard-working volunteers, 120 members and the FOPF committee whose work, support and dedication help make this a very special place. Our thanks also go to Tim Lloyd, of the Green Spaces Department of our local Council, for his support and practical help, which he gives unstintingly, whenever we make a request for help or advice.”
