Visitors to the field will notice that the hedge on the border with Wood Lane has been cut. The Friends have been working with the council to organise this work as part on annual maintenance plan. This follows action taken last year when plants were planted by volunteers to gap fill along the length of the hedge.
A variety of young plants were also placed along the inside of the brambles along the sport field. It is hoped these plants will grow to form a strong hedge over the next couple of years. Volunteers have recently cleared weeds from around the new saplings and you will see further work taking place next week to spread mulch around the plants in a hope to suppress the weeds!
